Time is sliding by here. The afternoon, I’m learning, is the worst time to access the internet. It gets terribly slow and the major email providers get bogged down. It’s no fun. Now, add that to having to print out credit card records for expense report purposes and I may just get a little rowdy;)
A colleague took pity upon me today and showed me the ins-and-outs of public transport to the ‘big’ supermarket in the city center. It’s about 25 cents for the ride in the labi-labi to where I need to go, but I didn’t know where I needed to get off. Now, I do–the KFC. Never would I think it a good thing to know where the KFC in any town is.
Work is moving right along. I’ve gotten into a groove, and having three sections of Literature is starting to get on my nerves. Grading 90 of the same questions is mind numbing. The speaking classes aren’t so tough, but the methods in 2d language research is keeping me on my toes. I’m supposed to be going step-by-step with the students through the research process so that they can develop research questions to be used for their required thesis. Seeing as I’ve never written a thesis or performed first-order research, this is asking a lot–especially since the theses I’ve seen writing don’t conform to my idea of ‘good’ open-ended and non-judgemental questions for research. It’s my opinion thus far.
I was going to have a trip out to Pulau Weh, but that got sidetracked as my counterpart went MIA this week and I’ve had to fend for myself trying to get information from any and all. I’ll take a little trip tomorrow for shopping and then I leave for Bali in one week. I haven’t had a beer in four weeks. While this is no amazing feat for myself, it shows that there isn’t any in my neighborhood–though I hear tell there is some to be found in the city, somewhere.
Oh, I did add a few pics of my flat, etc. to my Flickr page. Good luck on that search.
