I’m knocking some time off in DC as I dry some of my clothes at the hotel. My flights to Indonesia are slated to begin the 26th. This is contingent upon my Indonesian visa being in hand. One concern is that I sent a personal check for the visa fee. There is no information to the contrary on their Chicago consulate website; however, another Fellow who applied to the San Francisco consulate said that personal checks were not acceptable. Additionally, Thursday the 17th was the Indonesian Independence Day, Friday was just another day to take off because the 17th was a day off. Monday will be a Muslim holiday observed in Indonesia. This leaves Tuesday as the first day for me to confirm personal checks as acceptable. Yikes! I may end up running to Chicago to get things moving in person. There are no trains involved in any of this travel.
Addendum: Visa arrived Saturday morning. I’m off before dawn on the 26th.
