I finished. The darn swim kicked my ass, but I did feel pretty good about the bike and run. I got 69th place out of 125 men in the sprint triathlon. In my age group, I was 3d out of 8 participants.
The results are as follows (rank is for age group):
Swim: 20:02, Pace: 4:01/100m, Rank: 6
Transition 1: 3:52
Bike: 40:31, Avg speed: 18.5 mph, Rank: 3
Transition 2: 1:08
Run: 27:36, Pace: 8:53/mile, Rank: 3
Total: 1:33:06

Hey! Go, fight, win. Congrats, Tony.
Thanks, Scott. One life goal complete. On to #293.
When did you get so active Tony?! I’m quite impressed.
Not to worry, Kara. Active has been replaced by at least ten pounds of pudge! Back on the train tomorrow
Good to see that I’ll have a running partner in Boulder in August. By the way, it’s 100F outside right now.
D, did you seem my running times? I would hardly call that a running partner for a stringbean.
Congrats!
are we doing an ironman together next year? i am most positive that that is doable! … ok, swimming, but that is the shortest distance anyway!
really tony: Congrats! Bravo! … and how does it feel to finish one?
Will see whether I will be able to crack your time (probably not) when I re-enter (maybe Aug. 27th)
And a “Podestplatz” in the age group! I am impressed!
Julia
By the way: I am very impressed by our running time!!!!!!
Where was this triathlon held it anyways?
julia
Julia,
The triathlon was held in Interlochen, MI. Most of the bike and all of the run was flat. The water was mostly calm except for the choppy arms and legs
I’m looking forward to training for a full-length tri for next summer.
If you mean full full lenght - great, we can do an internet-training Gemeinschaft. I am number 170 on the waiting list for Ironman Austria on July 8th - which is already sold out as well as Ironman Germany. France and Swiss are still open, the rest seems too far away for me and the rest of the familiy.

Full, full length? I am not going to try to compete in an Ironman. My goal is for the Olympic length since I will not be purchasing a tri bike or wetsuit anytime soon (maybe never). Congratulations on your bravery for even placing yourself on the waiting list! It would take all my gumption to do so;)
