Confusion

I received my passport back today. The supreme commander handed it over to me upon his arrival. It was supposed to be held hostage for a plate of fried rice, but he was kind to me. In the car, I thumbed through the passport to make sure things were in order. The exit permit was stamped for 18 June. My flight is booked for 22 June. Oops. Now, the only matter is getting it taken care of before I fly out next Thursday. From what they tell me, it’s a lot easier to get a new permit than it is to get a new flight. We’ll see how close the shave gets…

I think since everyone else was leaving on the official leave date, they assumed I was too. I may have to jump over to Singapore and come back on a tourist visa. Piss.

Hmm. Since they made the mistake, I think it’s only fair that you pay them a “processing” fee to expedite the whole mess.

I guess you’ll have to go in to immigration with someone from the university to explain that you need to stay until the 22nd because you are teaching and you are very important. They will probably end up saying you can overstay but will have to pay 500,000+ for overstaying. You will not get a receipt for this overstaying fee.

I quit worrying about it. Tomorrow might be a better day for it. It’s not really immigration, it was another agency. I was the only one with a problem; another guy got his exit visa until October!

BTW for some reason it always takes a couple of reloads for me to see your blog - first I just get a few things off the sidebar and then Safari seems satisfied with that and stops.

I’m so glad our trip had no hiccups like your having. I wouldn’t expect it for a few weeks in the country, but if we did have any problems my poor wife would of lost her poor little jeni mind. And thats always bad.

How do you get that tree icon to come up next to your website address? Hey, sorry about your passport. Just change the date. It works.

Kara, that’s Scott’s doing. I duly forwarded your request to him. The palm tree was taken from a photograph. I’m leaving in two days!
