First, May 2006 photos are up in the photo album accessible in the links to your right. Secondly, another demonstration occurred today. As I pulled up on the street in the taxi, traffic was being bottlenecks by a length of bamboo. I thought they were just doing this to slow up the people driving and receive more donations for the earthquake victims. Besides it was just one guy with the all-important megaphone. Aside: Most things that I write about the demonstrations are less than 100% accurate and lies on the testimony of two or three reliable people. I trust them not to feed me lies, but there is no guarantee they have all the information correct either. Anyhow, I was told that this demonstration was in response to the administration disavowing any acts done in front of the university that did not have the proper permits. It seems the administration has had enough of demonstrations that a) disturb the peace or b) destroy university property. Fair enough. The students responded with the argument that demonstrating was their legal right and even called the act counter to the Reformasi. I think I could actually get on with all the demonstrations if they were non-violent and didn’t keep me off campus or at campus. Any crowd in any place has it’s own dynamics and I’m not about to test them out.
