A while back Scott told me about Google Analytics. I signed up to get an invitation a couple months ago and finally was able to sign up. Basically, it’s a marketing tool for people bent on making money from websites. For fools like me, it shows a wide range of statistics. Example: I know how many people accessed my blog in a certain amount of time and from what country, state, and city. I can also see how many pages are visted by each person. The analytics also posts where the traffic comes from–Google, blogger, etc. Luckily, this tells me nothing personal. It does burst my bubble though. Most people who visit my page only do so once. Very sad.

It is definitely interesting that all this information is available. While I was job hunting, it was useful to see who was “checking up” on me.
Google also recently released Google Trends. This is a broader analysis of Google Analytics (i.e. it tells you what people are searching for in general). Try searching for “sex” as an example.
Hey Tony, you should make me a user on your Analytics account. You are probably need to set it up so that index.php is your default page and some other stuff.
And yes, it is depressing.
Scott, I just added you with admin privileges. Weeeeeee!
Matt, Google trends is pretty funny. I typed in ’sex’ and Egypt was the number one country searching for ’sex.’ Funny.
