Sleeping Policeman.

In the great world of computer, I’ve been infected. Yes, my wonderful USB drive has been infected with something. At least it wasn’t from my computer. The only question now is, What to do? I had a lengthy posting on the drive as well as some photos for November. I’ve got backups for everything (almost), so I count myself lucky.

Thursday is the day I shove off for my beach holiday. This is strange since I don’t like sitting and doing absolutely nothing. I just want to be somewhere relaxing. I figure the water has always been a soothing image and sound for me, so why not? It will only take three short plane rides to get to where I’m going. Maybe my phone will work on Lombok and I’ll be able to pass along rants from the beach to some of you.

When I return I will undoubtedly fall into a deep slumber knowing that the next day will be moving day. Last night, I was not as lucky. A man ran amok in the neighborhood. Around 10p a man was screaming, Why?! in both Indonesian and English. He was staggering as if her were drunk and the whole neighborhood suspected as much. The young men were making fun of him as he went back and forth. The man went into the small shop next door to my place and I heard a shattering of glass shortly after. He left there and they closed their doors. I sat up wondering if his ire would reach toward the foriegner in the neighborhood. I didn’t know the reason behind his rampage, nor do I know now. This is just one of several mid-sleep interruptions I continue to have on a weekly basis.

Nothing much else to note: I did have my last classes of the year this week. I had the speaking & listening class for teens sing me Happy Birthday–yesterday’s class was all middle school girls. Afterwards, they asked how old I would be. Twenty-nine, I said. One smart-ass girl said, You’re already old! I threw the marker that was in my hand at her.

Also, my friend Scott is organizing the photos he took while we were in Peace Corps/Nepal. You can click on his link in the sidebar. I’ve found at least one of my backside in the corner of the photo. That’s all for now. Happy holidays.
