Gadzooks!

Another quick post: I got back from Yogyakarta on Thursday night. I will never go to another TEFL Indonesia conference again. The paper presentations were given only ten minutes with another ten minutes of questions. This in itself was ridiculous but what really rubbed me wrong was the doormongers. These slight female students manned the door trying to remind us all that we needed tickets for the rooms we entered so that there would not be overcrowding. I went and tried to flout the rules by entering the main auditorium without a ticket. There were no less than forty seats empty a few meters in front of me. I faintly tried to explain to the girl that there was no need for a ticket; there were plenty of seats. She would have none of it. I only wish the rest of the country was as diligent as this girl. Apparently, if I sat in without a ticket there would be complete anarchy. Teserah.

Last Monday, I made my way to Borobudor, the largest Buddhist complex in Indonesia. It was a massive collection of lava stone and carvings of the Buddha’s life. Additionally, there were carvings of the Kama Sutra but they were conveniently hidden by the government lest anyone get any ideas. I hope I’ll be able to put up a few photos in the next few days…

Must run. I’m checking out my potential flat this afternoon.
