Imbecility

The modem continues to pain me and this is the reason for so many posting in a relatively short time. I know my mother has been chomping at the bit for more.

Last Wednesday, I went to the office to try and post the previous two entries and was unsuccessful. However, I did see the local newspaper, and it was gruesome. On the front page were the severed heads of three Catholic schoolgirls. The fact that the girls were beheaded in the Poso area of Central Sulawesi is alarming, but the idea of printing those photos evade any sense of taste. I understood the printing of the heads of the recent Bali suicide bombers as an aid to identifying them; this printing I don’t understand. I’m pretty sure the perpetrators will not be found, too. The grisliness is pure wonderment.

The area where it took place has been rife with religious-related violence for several years. Poso, Central Sulawesi is the meeting point for the two largest faiths in Indonesia and a hotspot of religious violence. The blame game is clearly at play here and everyone is looking for their to be another flare-up after the murders. The only question is: How will the local or national government seek to contain and resolve? We shall soon see.
