Flotsam & Americana

The past week has been good. I finally was able to get the paperwork togetherfor my Indonesian visa and I sent that out last Thursday. Hopefully, it’llbe returned in Wednesday or Thursday’s delivery by the USPS. I also boughtan International Driver’s License since my current Indonesian license willexpire in December and I have no want to go through that rigamarole onceagain. I’ve yet to sign my contract for this year, but I am 100% sure thatI will before I leave, even if it is only a few days before. Now, all Ineed is the long haul departure ticket so that I can reserve a room in theSingapore transit hotel, if that’s the way we’re going.

Last Saturday,I was lucky enough to engage myself in a true American sport, horseshoe pitching. This particular event is held every year by the father of a high schoolfriend. It’s another reason to get family and friends together in the summer. The highlight of ‘the Shoe’ this year was a full, roasted pig (see My Images). See the images for a couple action shots of this year’s event.

I’vealso uploaded a few more images from the past couple months including: myselfresting after LASIK surgery, turkeys in my Dad’s backyard, and my brotherJim leaving on vacation. To read his misadventures, please click: prospectinggold.blogspot.com.

Thisweekend is a tramp downstate amid the skyrocketing of gas prices. $2.75today in Elk Rapids. I’ll hang with my friends and go to see a Tigers gameat Comerica Park, maybe eat at Zingerman’s for a meal of nostalgia. I’llalso zip south of the border to Toledo to hang with one of my former collegeroommates.

I’m still searching for the end of the rainbow, Scott. Are you going to be in DC next weekend? Just wondering…
