I’m going to try to email this post and see what happens. I haven’t tried it in a long time because the formatting got messed up in the
process, but I’ll try just for you.
Things are exceedingly banal here. It seems that every time I get to cross something off my “to do” list another thing pops up. However, I do feel that I did quite a lot today. I finished the formatting of the exams for the two classes I teach and stuck them on the desk of my supervisor. Now that I think of it, maybe leaving them out in the open wasn’t such a good idea. The other interesting fact to note is that we send out our exams to be copied and having someone stand by and watch the exams get copied so that one doesn’t ’slip’ out unexpectedly is a little suspect. On the other hand, a student studying to answer my questions might not be such a bad thing. At least they would be able to answer the questions and maybe learn something in the process.
Two exams will be done on Friday. One will be only a few students, and it will be oral interviews. That’s the easy one. The other one is the 95 strong lecture. I put down four questions for a total of 100 points. I’ll be grading those into the evening and placing a final spreadsheet of grades for that class on the desk of my supervisor Saturday. Sunday morning I’ll be off to the wild, wild West aka Jakarta for some last minute shopping and preparation for Tuesday’s two and a half hour seminar before I fly out to Singapore and overnight there. It’ll be a long haul, but I’m looking forward to the longer days, the quieter streets, cleaner air, and more familiar faces.
If my last visit to the US is any indication, I should be more than ready to leave when it’s time for me to leave in August. I’ll be looking forward to something back here in Indonesia although I’m not sure yet what exactly that will be. Now, I’m packed up as much as I can and will be moving the bigger things I’ve acquired and can’t fit on my scooter on Thursday. A little hitch I’ve got here is that the domestic flight to Jakarta only allows 20kg while the international flights allow that per bag. I hope I don’t have a problem. I told you this was a banal time.
